Investigate the absorption and radiation of
energy on different surfaces. Students fill both
cans with water and place a thermometer in
each. They then turn on light at 10cm distance
and observe how temperatures respond
differently in the black can and silver can. In a
reverse experiment, the rates of cooling can
be determined after the light is turned off. Each
kit Includes a 16 oz. black metal and a 16 oz.
shiny metal can, two insulating lids, and two
thermometers (-20° to 50°C). The single kit also
includes one 120 VAC clamp lamp, with reflector
and 100 watt light bulb; the class kit includes four
lamps.
